Black eyed peas fritters/Alasanda Garelu
Ingredients:
Black eyed peas
Cilantro finely chopped
Spring onion finely chopped (optional)
Mint finely chopped (optional)
Curry leaves finely chopped
Onion finely chopped as per taste
Green chillies - to taste - Finely chopped
Salt - to taste
Jeera - 1tsp
Saunf/fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp (optional, gives nice flavor)
Garlic - 3-4 cloves (adjust as per taste)
Oil to fry
To prepare:
- Grind the black-eyed peas, green chilies, Jeera, Saunf, Garlic to a coarse paste/batter
- Mix chopped onions, cilantro, mint, curry leaves, spring onions to the ground paste/batter, add salt and check seasoning
- Heat oil in medium flame and prepare to fry the garelu/fritters/vadalu until golden brown. Don't add too many at a time. Repeat the process until entire batter is done
- Enjoy the hot garelu/fritters/vadalu with ghee or sabhudana sweet or Ravva sweet or Chicken or any gravy of your choice.
